One of my favorite activities in the world is fly fishing.  I discovered it in college because it looked fascinating, and, honestly, I loved the grace of casting (I am possibly the least graceful person on the planet and was hoping this would help me 😉 ).   In 2005, I took an 8 year break from it because I was learning so much about spin casting and trolling, but this year I have happily returned to flies!

Yesterday I went out on the Flambeau with outdoor writer and photographer Tim Lesmeister and Wendy Williamson, owner of Hayward Fly Fishing Company, to search for some muskie and smallies.  The water was WAY too warm to handle the muskie, but the smallies were out enjoying the weather ;).  Please notice I am the only dumb one wearing shorts, because I forgot how bad the bugs could be – whoops!  A HUGE thanks to Wendy for taking us out and being an amazing teacher and to Tim for the awesome photos at the end.  Also – all fish were caught and released on barbless hooks.  I don’t keep fish.
