The Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race is one of my favorite events up here. This past week I got to get some amazing photos of some very happy dogs – and mushers :). You can see all of the photos here: AISDR 2015 Photos (btw – you are a musher and would like a free file for social media – please email me -Hannah@stonehousephoto.com)
I’d love if you’d pin and share this blog or the above link- thanks! Also – full sized versions of all of these are available here: My Favorites.
At the start of the race, Al & I headed down to the first corner to get some photos of the mushers and the dogs turning – little did we know what we would be doing shortly…
The pink booties of the ones going by are so fun…
This was the 1st time Al has not run this race in a few years, so he was with me while I was shooting. Oddly, at the turn we were at, a gentleman got injured and had to be brought back on a snowmobile. Thankfully we were there to get him help (running that distance back to get help in a snowsuit is a little tiring, by the way. Ha!), and Al was able to drive his team back for him. Being the combination of firefighter and musher was apparently a good combo for this adventure :).
Love these dogs having so much fun!
This is Blair Braverman – she is working on a book about mushing, AND she was the winner of the Sportsmen’s Class. #teamblair 😉
Flat tire husky below! The dogs were enjoying rolling after the race. Caroline coming in at the end! This father son team had a photo finish! It was very cool to see them finish together 🙂Jim’s Team coming in! This is Bayfield’s all rescue team. Love them!
Day 2! I really focused on getting photos of the dogs up close with my 70-200. Their happy personalities, extreme focus, and incredible drive really shine through.
I hope you enjoyed all of my favorites from the race- please share if you know someone who’d enjoy them!
