A few weeks ago I hopped on a plane to Atlanta for a few doggy portrait sessions. As I was taking off and looking at the Minneapolis skyline glowing in the dark, I had a crazy realization that I am doing my dream job. I mean, I’ve known I am doing the job I love, but at that moment I realized I was flying to a place to meet awesome people who love their animals just as much as I do, and I getting to document that bond for a living. That to me is a dream come true.
The awesome thing about this particular shoot is because they found me after my first travel session in 2012! They have a tripod black German Shepherd that looks just like the one I photographed when I visited the Franklin County Shelter (you can see those pics here). After they saw him on my blog, they decided to see if he’d be a match for their family, but he was adopted before they could meet him. Flash forward to this fall, they now live in the Atlanta area, and when Lyndsay found out I was coming down, she hired me to do a session while I was there.
Apparently for Atlanta, temps in December are not normally in the 75 degree range, but we took full advantage of it. We went and played at the park, got them all worn out, and then we attempted the reindeer photo. And it worked! They are such good doggies. There was no trying to remove the antlers or whining. Love it! Thank you for having me – it was awesome!
