A few months ago I visited The Humane Society for Seattle/King County for some of my shelter sessions. When Jaime and I were shooting there we met Bart. Bart is such an incredibly sweet special needs puppy with Spina Bifida.
Here is Bart’s profile from his Seattle Humane page:
Bart is a strikingly handsome 9-month-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix. His chocolatey-black coat is accented with a gleaming white blaze on his forehead and dazzling white paws and chest. Bart has soft floppy ears, discerning brown eyes, and some cute freckles splashed across his nose. He’s a sweet boy that loves affection and attention of all kinds. He’s eager to please, but still not always certain of what is expected of him (he’s still a pup, after all!). Some additional basic training would be to everyone’s advantage while he learns the ropes of growing up!
Bart has Spina Bifida, a birth defect that effects his hindquarters. His back legs move in tandem – kind of like a bunny hop – but this doesn’t slow Bart down! He’s speedy and playful and ready to romp. Bart’s condition also prevents him from being able to control his bladder and bowels, so he’ll need a very special adopter who is willing to take on the extra responsibility and challenge of a Special Needs pooch. Bart lives every day to the fullest, but he misses having a loving human of his very own. If you think you might be the right person for Bart, please come in and meet him today. The shelter staff will be glad to provide you with additional information about this special boy.
As you can tell from the photos, he loves to snuggle, but he was bit wary of my clicking sound… mostly because I was squealing as I was taking his photo :). If you know of anyone who would fall in love with this wonderful boy, please share this post and check out his info here: Bart at Seattle Humane.
Thank you and have a great weekend!
