2 years ago I paid it forward to a friend and took the photo of Schoep in Lake Superior as a last memory of his four legged companion. That photo did so much for humans and canines all over the world. Schoep got another year of life, people learned about keeping their old dogs comfortable, friendships were made, and my life was never the same.
I want to keep that good feeling going every August with an annual month of giving. I can only do so much by volunteering my time at shelters across the country. Money is sometimes what they really need.
I’m involved with two groups whom I adore and I want to help out.
The 1st is, of course, Catkins. Catkins makes a real difference up here in the Northwoods. Catkins is where the Jim Fund (named after my late husband) is located and where I got Stewie (my hilarious chihuahua). I love everything about this organization. If you’d heard of Kirby the Wonderdog, you know how amazing they are, and how much they do with so little.
The 2nd is Six Legs Foundation. I met all of them earlier this summer, and they make a HUGE difference for pets that already have loving homes. These pets’ owners have fallen on hard times and may not be able to afford the care their pet needs. Six Legs steps in to keep these pets in their homes and out of shelters.
Until August 15th, 50% of my profits from the StonehousePhoto store will be split between the two organizations. This includes all prints and products.
In about 2 weeks I will make another announcement about the 2nd half of the month of giving. Thank you so much for sharing this post with the world – it is much appreciated :).
