Needless to say, this winter was incredibly cold!  The ice is still on the lake, and it’s taken the form of ice bergs. They’re everywhere – even the ferry had to cancel last night’s last trip because of fog and floating ice.

My friend Mary got some incredible shots this past week on her boat – definitely check them out on her blog.  The blue of the sky and the white of the ice looks completely amazing.

I wandered around Bayfield today and got some of the lake and the harbor from City Dock and a few other spots.  It’s absolutely gorgeous out!  ( You can purchase copies of the photos here:  Bayfield Art Prints).

Enjoy!

    Hannah,
What is it about water photos and paintings that speak to so many? Your camera has captured so many interesting pictures of life in your Bayfield fishing community. It is almost like stepping back into history if one lives in a more suburban setting. Many here are eager to return to the Chesapeake Bay and rivers for fishing, crabbing, and sailing. It’s been a severe winter across the country. The ice glaciers/sculptures on your friend’s posting are amazing! Keep capturing these insights into life there; it’s an interesting learning experience.

Once again, such great pictures. How did you get the 1 shot where it looks like the water is pulled taut or maybe striated is the correct word? Were you laying flat on the dock?

I was shooting at a really high aperture number, so it looks likes they are in focus to infinity. This is one of my favorite shots!
