Madeline Island Ferry’s 1st Run of the Season!

The first run of the season for the Madeline Island Ferry started this morning at about 9:30am. It seemed like a relatively quick run, even though the ice is still very thick. Originally a Coast Guard cutter was going to come in this weekend and help, but it seems that might not be necessary (which is fine by me, as I’m going to be gone for the first wedding of the season this weekend, and I would miss it!  So excited).

I shot both stills and this video – and Stormey shot some great stills as well.  We are so happy to have warmer temps and open water on the horizon!

Hannah, Just wanted to comment on how beautiful and informative these photos are of the seasonal differences…. providing some insight into a different way of life centered around the water and islands in Wisconsin. The Ice Caves captured everyone’s attention. Being from Maryland near the Chesapeake Bay, one so enjoys photography of wildlife, sunrises/sunsets, boating activity, watermen. Don’t doubt your gift for capturing the moment – you have a natural gift and passion that intuitively guides you to priceless captures.
